I know, I know....
Your saying "he comments all over the place but why isn't he posting any art?"

Ok.

I am experimenting. Not with DRUGS anymore (clean n sober) like i use to. I have been workin on an

expanding number of ideas whic i offer to anyone for topics, dialogue and general info.

We all know as acrylic users that the stuff has some amazing properties. What I am involved with also

has to do with my ideas on art. My friend Lady Carol reminded me that this Board is focused on

acrylic. So keep in mind that as an acrylic artist, these ideas are coming out of the plethora of

properties that acrylic exhibits.

Back in 1985 I was experimenting with alot of things but one idea that became interesting is

abstraction vs realism. Some ideas that were floating around from the 50's n 60's n 70's was the thing

that a painting is an objeact like a sculpture is a thing. My painting was arguing that no abstract 2

dimensional work occurs at all. That in fact all 2d work is about illusion and the realism of hyper

realism was no diferent than the space created in a DeKooning or a Motherwell. In the end, everything

is experienced thru our sences and put together as some rationale in our brain ie we see it, we touch

it. Even thou Rembrandt paints this illusion our mind can enter into, it is no diferent than the

reading of a book and how our mind constructs space based on the letters of print on a page.

It's either interpretted as all abstract and occuring in the mind or all realism in that it is all

illusion we can enter into.

Anyway, My acrylic painting took realism and smashed it into abstraction amd psychedelics did

participate with my hybrids.

So many years of personal turmoil ensued as you might conclude about any drug user. And many ideas and

perspectives or paradigms were explored in the process. ( side story: I am sober non-AA, athiest

having explored faith religion and roads less traveled ).



Now an important thing for me is this thing called DIGITAL ART and GICLEE and reproductions and

Photoshopping something. This falls within the area of "WHY PAINT" and "THIS IS AN OBJECT YOU CAN BUY.

A ONE OF A KIND AND IT WON"T REPRODUCE. It is something most understood FIRST HAND.

This painting thing is coming back to some abstract ideas of the 60's and 70's where these things are

objects. take all the pictures ya want but ya can't have my work as a reproduction. You must by the

thing as an object to see all its qualities.

I absolutely still work in illusion but I see these works as adding to my repetoire of aspects of art.

I like using the stick figure for how it says this is a symbol, a "character", a icon which stands

for....
I like painting realism which keeps my skills focused.

So lately I am painting "skins" which has been part of my repitoire since 1990's but I am starting to

emphasize it. (see [link])

I am creating skins and looking at many properties. I throw alot a stuff away.
I am making buttons ( to sell?)
I am trying to make "skins" to sell to NAIL SALONS. (to sell?)
I am trying to stick em on clothes. ( [link] )

I am not fully developed in these ideas but i put them out for you to see, finished or not
